Third Horizon is pleased to share a new strategy paper developed for the National Council for Mental Wellbeing's CCBHC-E National Training and Technical Assistance Center: Building Financial Resilience: Independent Practice Associations as a Strategy for CCBHCs.
Authored by Managing Director Mindy Klowden, the paper examines how Independent Practice Associations (IPAs) can help Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics (CCBHCs) build negotiating leverage with payers, share data and analytics infrastructure, and strengthen their financial sustainability. It draws on case studies from behavioral health networks in New York, Minnesota, Missouri, Kansas, and Oklahoma to outline what IPAs are, the benefits and tradeoffs for CCBHCs, and the lessons learned from organizations that have already built one.
